Heute werde ich ein klitzekleines bisschen philosophisch (aber es wird nicht allzu schlimm. Versprochen!)

Diese wunderschönen Apfelblüten am Apfelbaum auf der Wiese vor unserem Haus erinnern mich an den Tod.

Na gut, das ist jetzt etwas stark verkürzt. Also nochmal: diese wunderschönen Blüten, in denen die Bienen wie wild herumsummen, werden Morgen als weisser Regen vom Wind am Boden verteilt. Und noch ein paar Tage später wird nichts mehr von der Blütenpracht zu sehen sein. Und auch wenn auf die Blüten, die Blätter und später die Äpfel folgen – und jedes einzelne davon schön ist – so sind die Blüten dennoch ein Symbol für die Unbeständigkeit aller Erscheinungen der materiellen Welt.

Jede Blume oder Frucht, die ich male, ist im Moment des Malens schon vergangen. Auch das Bild wird eines Tages zerfallen sein, genauso wie der Maler, der die Vergänglichkeit festhält.

Wenn ich diesen Gedanken zu weittreibe, dann kann ich mich nur Mani Matter anschliessen und sagen, dass«…..ein metaphysisches Gruseln…» mich packt. (für die Berndeutsch-Sprechenden siehe  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuxpNcGwdAg)

Today I’m going to be a little bit philosophical (but it won’t be too bad. I promise!)

These beautiful apple blossoms on the apple tree in the meadow in front of our house remind me of death.

All right, this is now a bit shortened. So once again: these beautiful blossoms, in which the bees are buzzing around, will be spread on the ground tomorrow as white rain from the wind. And a few days later, there will be nothing to see of the flowers. And even if the blossoms are followed by the leaves and later by the apples follow – and every single one of them is beautiful – the blossoms are still a symbol for the impermanence of all phenomena of the material world.

Every flower or fruit that I paint is already gone at the moment of painting. One day the painting will also have disintegrated, just like the painter who captures transience.
